Let the music speak or it is like a box of.Chocolates delight and some have liquor for bitter taste. Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 25 May 2018. Well the liquor of bitter is not the music but there is no libretto or translation of opeera. Why despite so many complain and yet it fail on the daf ears of record companies as they expect to know Germany and Italian. These are the real bitter coco chocolate. This box set is highly recommended. I do read music but I enjoy the way Kubelik conduct the orchestra. Listen to Mahler symphonies it is just beautiful with just the right amount of emotion.
I can listen to the symphonies without disturbing the wax in my years. I really enjoy Schuman symphonies for the first time. I realise this box set is expensive but it is an investment and a perfect gift to those new to classical music.
Just five stars for every thing and minus one star of 5 stars for documentation. Some real gems and only the rare dud!Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 18 October 2018. Wide ranging repertoire, including some justly praised recordings albeit with some inevitable variations in sound quality. Choosing classic tracks, worth collecting, great value. I used to love Kubelik and now more. Beautiful engravings with authors spanning various eras. Exalted technical quality of engravings. I would definitely have accompanied the engravings with a booklet worthy of that name, as done for other directors on the other hand. I recommend this box set anyway because it is a treasure chest of beautiful music.
Reviewed in Italy on 1 December 2018. But there are also wonderful interpretations of Beethoven's symphonies, all recorded with different orchestras, not to mention Mahler and what I consider to be the best performance of the Vltava among those in circulation. All discs have been checked disc number 15 has some minor scratches all others are in excellent condition. The cardboard sleeves are in good condition but I find the sleeves holding 3 discs make them difficult to remove.
The outer cardboard box shows some signs of wear. The photos form part of the description please message me if you need any further information.
