(Done visually, based on Goldmine). Near Mint (NM or M-) The record should show no obvious signs of wear and will be glossy/shiny. No cracks, scratches or warps. Excellent (EX or VG++) One or two light marks visible on the disc at most, otherwise full gloss. Sleeve shows 1-2 marks, nothing too major, maybe at the edges. Very Good Plus (VG+) A Very Good Plus record will show some signs that it was played and otherwise handled. Record surfaces may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experiences.Maybe also slight warps that do not affect the sound. Sleeves will have some slight wear, lightly bent corners, or a slight seam split. Very Good (VG) Surface noise will be evident upon playing, especially in soft passages and during the intro and fade, but will not overpower the music otherwise. Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as with scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound. Labels may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached.
The same will be true of picture sleeves or LP covers. Good (G), Good Plus (G+) A record in Good or Good Plus condition can be put onto a turntable and will play through without skipping.
But it will have significant surface noise, scratches and groove wear. Tape, writing, seam splits, ring wear or other defects will start to overwhelm the object. If something is not mentioned in the description, it is probably not included with the item (for example, original inner sleeves, inserts, posters, etc). If you're not sure, send me a message. I pack the covers in new thin plastic sleeves and the discs in new white paper sleeves.
